A name tag is a small piece that works all day: customers learn names faster and your staff looks like one team from the first shift. When you order, the choice people stop on most is the backing. Pin or magnet? This guide covers that decision and the three others that come with it, using the name tags we make in our Kissimmee, Florida studio.
Pin back or magnet back?
| Magnet back | Pin back | |
|---|---|---|
| On clothing | Leaves no holes. Gentle on shirts and blouses | A safety plastic pin, the classic option |
| Best for | Everyday shirts, and teams that move the tag between outfits | Thicker fabrics like jackets and aprons, or uniforms that require a pin |
| Hold | Holds firmly and is easy to move from one shirt to another | Holds well on thick fabric |
If your team wears regular shirts or blouses, choose the magnet. If they wear aprons, jackets or a uniform that asks for the classic option, choose the pin.

Which size: 1" x 3" or 1.5" x 3"?
Both sizes come with either backing. Each tag fits up to 3 lines of text, such as name, title and location. Shorter lines read better from a distance, so if you plan to use all three lines or place your logo on top, the 1.5" x 3" gives you more room.
Full color print or laser finish?
- Full color print keeps your logo in its real colors and the text easy to read across a counter. Badge colors: silver, white or gold.
- Laser finish is permanent, with no vinyl, no peeling and no fading, on lightweight acrylic with a brushed metal look. Colors: silver, gold, black or white.
